Woodstock-legendes herleven 50 jaar later in TivoliVredenburg

In het weekend van 16 en 17 augustus is het vijftig jaar geleden dat het legendarische popfestival Woodstock plaatsvond in Bethel, New York. Reden voor een aantal Nederlandse artiesten om onder de naam Strange Brew een bijzonder eerbetoon te brengen aan de artiesten die daar optraden. Dit doen ze op vrijdag 16 augustus in TivoliVredenbug

De kaartverkoop voor de voorstelling in TivoliVredenburg is inmiddels gestart. De show wordt een dag later ook nog opgevoerd in het Amsterdamse Concertgebouw.

Sept. 7 at 8:30pm $20 adv./$20 door DANCE AGES 21 + Moby Grape is an American rock group that originated in the 1960s, known for having all five members contribute to singing and songwriting, which collectively merged elements of folk, blues, country, and jazz. They were one of the few groups of which all members were lead vocalists. They are a major part of the original San Francisco Sound and Summer of Love, and pioneers of psychedelic rock music. Moby Grape is the 1967 self-titled debut album by Moby Grape. Coming from the San Francisco scene, their reputation quickly grew to immense proportions, leading to a bidding war and a contract with Columbia Records. The album peaked at #24 on Billboard albums chart in September 1967. Moby Grape 2019 are Jerry Miller, Peter Lewis, Omar Spence (son of Skip Spence), John (Fuzzy) Oxendine and Tiran Porter (of the Doobie Brothers). Jerry Miller is #68 on Rolling Stone's list of 'The 100 greatest guitarists of all time'! The Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin are two of several famous bands that have covered Jerry Miller songs, live and on record. Jerry Miller and Don Stevenson's "8:05" became a Country Rock standard and was covered by Robert Plant. Peter Lewis is one of the founding members of the band Moby Grape. Three of his better-known songs with Moby Grape are "Fall on You"; "Sitting by the Window" and "If You Can't Learn From My Mistakes". Omar Spence, who is Skip's son, is a guitarist and vocalist. Bob Mosely, the bassist and bluesy vocalist in Moby Grape, has retired. Drummer 'Fuzzy' John Oxendine played with The Sons of Champlin and The Rhythm Dukes. He has historically preformed with Moby Grape since the 1960s. Tiran Porter was a 14-year veteran bassist and vocalist with The Doobie Brothers.
